About Us

Ron has always been a part of the family funeral business. He became a funeral director in 1997 after graduating from Worsham college of Mortuary Science.  He was instrumental in the growth of the family business with the addition of the Mancelona Chapel in 2003, the Winchester Chapel of Charlevoix in 2017 and the Hastings Chapel of Ellsworth in 2019.  Serving and guiding families thru their grief journey are always his priority. In his spare time he enjoys hunting and being in the great outdoors.  As well as spending time with his grandchildren Mary Kaye, Knox, Teddy John, and Reid. 

Holly came into the Mortensen Funeral Home family business in 1995 when she married Ron. She oversees all business transactions and handles the daily needs of the families. She is the mother of their three children, Jaynee, Isaac and Gavin and a volunteer throughout the community.  In the summer of 2020 Holly became "Gigi" to Mary Kaye and Knox, followed by Teddy John and Reid in 2022.  Her hobbies include reading, walking the family dog Bo, and spending time enjoying the sunshine.

Gary and his wife Sue owned and operated the Mortensen Funeral Homes from 1980 until his son Ron and daughter in law Holly took over ownership. He helps with all aspects of the business and especially enjoys talking with people at visitation. He is affectionately known as the "founding father, cemetery guru, and proud papa."  Gary has 5 loving grandchildren and 5 loving great-grandchildren who consider him their hero! Gary and Sue love traveling together, and if not working, he can be found working on projects of all kinds. 

Kasey grew up in Bellaire Michigan, and has been a lifelong resident of Antrim County.  He married Jaynee (Mortensen) Poel, daughter of Ron and Holly, in August of 2017.  He attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science and graduated in September of 2018.  He is a Licensed Funeral Director with MFH.  Kasey is well known in the community for his kind words, tender heart, and great personality. Kasey and Jaynee have two children, a daughter Mary Kaye and a son Teddy John.  He enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with family.  He has been a wonderful addition to the Mortensen Funeral Homes staff.

Isaac has been involved in the Mortensen Funeral Homes his whole life.  Since age 8, Isaac knew he would join the family business of serving and taking care of others in their greatest time of need. A lifelong resident of Central Lake, Isaac is well known in Antrim County and beyond for his passion for the business, warm smile, and giving heart.  In August of 2019 Isaac married Claudia Mortensen, and they are parents to sons Knox Michael and Reid Kenneth. Isaac graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in March of 2020 and is now a licensed Funeral Director.  In his free time Isaac enjoys hunting, snowmobiling, watching sports, and spending time with his family and friends.

Jaynee has been involved in the Funeral Home industry her whole life.  She is married to Kasey Poel, who also works for MFH.  She graduated from Central Lake High School, and has been a life long resident of Antrim County.  She has always loved working with her family, and helping families in their time of need. Jaynee and Kasey have two children who are their whole world, a daughter Mary Kaye and a son Teddy John.  Jaynee enjoys cooking, spending time with family, and socializing with friends. She now works full time in the  office.
