ZILDA M. COOLSEN, 78, of Bellaire, passed away on August 24, 2012 at Munson Medical Center. Zilda was born on April 4, 1934 in Bellaire, the daughter of Lewis and Alice (Tyler) Grannis. Zilda was married April 15, 1950 to Harrison L. Loper until his death in 1967. On September 23, 1973 she was married to George F. Coolsen Jr. until his death in 1979. Zilda always had an open heart and open home to anyone in need. Her love for others was demonstrated by her career as a nurse's aide at the Michigan Veterans Facility until her retirement in 1994. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, sewing and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, 3 brothers, Girdon Grannis, Donald Grannis Sr., Raymond Grannis and a son James Loper. She is survived by 5 children, Harrison (Tracy) Loper of Sand Lake, Douglas (Michele) Loper of Sparta, Gregory Loper of Traverse City, Lucinda (Art) Trowbridge of Bellaire, and Jonathan (Marijo) Loper of Kalamazoo. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Russell Tharp will officiate. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township. Visitation will take place on Monday from 5-8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
