Zada Lou Dobrowalski, 87, of Boyne City, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. She was born March 24, 1928, in Boyne City to John and Hazel (Smith) Koepke. Zada grew up in Boyne City and graduated from Boyne City High School in 1946.
On November 9, 1946, she married Frank Dobrowalski in Boyne City. They made their home in Jackson, where she worked as a seamstress for L.H. Fields Department Store. She also worked as a bookkeeper at the Parnell School. After retiring in 1979, they moved to Spring Hill, Fla., then returned to Boyne City in 1992.
Zada was an artist and enjoyed painting. She enjoyed reupholstering furniture, and loved canning food – for which she earned blue ribbons at the county fair.
Zada is survived by her children, Frank (Phoebe) Dobrowski, Jeff (Helen) Dobrowalski, Brenda Brook all of Boyne City, Cindy (Russ) Koeman of Boyne Falls; grandchildren, Scott Dobrowski, Allyson Dobrowalski, Eddie and Shelby Brook; sister, Janice (Carlton “Eugene”) Juday of Petoskey.
Zada was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2000, and by her son Eric.
A private burial was held Monday at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City.
