Z. Smyth

Z. Katherine Smyth, 93, of Mancelona, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Cherry Hill Haven of Kalkaska. Katherine was born February 17, 1919 in Kalkaska, the daughter of Arthur and Ina Carlisle. Katherine graduated from Mancelona High School in 1936. She then went to college for a teaching degree. She was a teacher for 32 years in Michigan, Idaho and Alaska. She enjoyed art, music, reading, traveling, writing and sewing. She was very involved at the Mancelona Church of The Nazarene where she attended for many years. She is survived by a host of extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Smyth; two sons, Stephen and Kelly; parents; and a brother, George Carlisle. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
