Yvonne Eckhorn

Yvonne F. Eckhorn, 84 of Mancelona, died peacefully, Dec. 14, 2017 at home.

She was born July 2, 1933 in Memphis, MI the daughter of Vernon and Nellie (Moran) Cockerill.

Yvonne was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved being with and spending time with her family.  She enjoyed joking around with them, laughing with them, and providing a fun, loving home for them.  Yvonne had a compassionate and giving heart and was friendly to everyone, never having met a stranger.  She always had words of encouragement to share even in the most trying times.

On Dec. 1, 1951, Yvonne married the love of her life, Wallace Eckhorn.  They enjoyed 60 years of marriage together.  In 1994 they retired to northern Michigan from Chicago to enjoy God’s beauty and grace.  They became members of the Cornerstone Community Bible Church in Coldsprings Township.

Surviving Yvonne are her children Richard (Marybeth) Eckhorn of Crystal Lake, IL, Laura (Jerry) McDaniel of Wayland, MI, Carrie (Ted) Wright of Sabina, OH, Sandra (Daniel) Solomon of Savanna, IL, Judith Haverkamp, Steven (Amy) Eckhorn of Mancelona, sister Lelah Barrigar, brothers Don Cockerill, Bill and Tom Winn, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.  Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, and her brothers Stanley and Robert.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2018 and interment will be in Coldsprings Township Cemetery, next to her husband.
