Winnifred Robinson

Winnifred "Stick" Robinson passed away on January 6, 2016. She was the daughter of Dan and Lola (Rauch) Berg and a lifelong resident of Bellaire. Stick was born on Valentine's Day 1921 and attended the Clam Lake Country School and graduated from Bellaire High School. She married William (Bill) Robinson on September 11, 1941. They were married for 63 years and lived most of those years on Clam Lake. She was the Antrim County Deputy Treasurer for many years.

Stick had a deep love for family and friends. All were welcome at her table where she served good food, funny stories, love and playing card especially cribbage. She often spoke about her father's first boat business on Clam River (Dan Berg's Pioneer Boat Shop May 13, 1914). She loved to help her father in his boat business and being on the water in her boat the River Queen.

Stick was a past member of the Red Hats and Torch Area Artisan's Guild (TAAG) and excellent crocheter - dubbed "The Happy Hooker" by her husband. She had many pen pals. After the death of her husband she enjoyed traveling and liked spending her winters in Florida with no snow. She enjoyed seeing friends and relatives in different states and playing Bingo became a favorite pastime. She enjoyed her last years at the Heritage Haus.

She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her and share her life. She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Robinson. Parents Dan and Lola Berg. Siblings Charles (Si) Berg, Henry (Jack) Berg, Marilyn (John) Haines. Bill's siblings: Ford Robinson, Lenora Bailey, Gretchen Mariage, Elnora Eiserman, Betty Thomas Trivan and Howard Thomas. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Grace Community Church in Central Lake, Michigan on April 30, 2016 at 11 a. m. Memorial contributions may be made to: Heartland Hospice, 4020 Copperview Street, Suite 113, Traverse City, MI 49684 or to the Heritage Haus Memorial Garden, P.O. 253, Bellaire, MI 49615.
