Winifred Darby

Winifred O. Darby, 87, of Alba passed away May 14, 2014 at the Kalkaska Memorial Eden Center. She is survived by 3 children, Larry Darby of Seattle, WA., Roger Darby of Alba and Charlotte Darby of Mancelona; 4 sisters, Dorothy Phillips, Donna Proctor, Helen Underwood and Bernice Warner; 3 brothers, Charles Near, Junior Near and Glenn Near; several loving grand and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Irma (Rhapson) Near; daughter, Cheryl North; and siblings, Marion Donaldson and Lee Near. Winifred graduated from Alba Public School in 1944. She worked for Honeywell with more than 35 years before retiring. She enjoyed fishing, country music, concerts and spending time with family. Memorial services celebrating Winifred's life will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Mark McCool officiating.
