Wilma Sitzema

Wilma Rose Sitzema, 83, of Banks Township died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at her home.

Wilma was born May 31, 1933 in Charlevoix to William and Hulda (Rieth) Thorp.

On October 6, 1951 she married Ronald L. Sitzema in Charlevoix. They lived in Marion Township, moving to Banks Township in 1994.

Wilma worked in wire manufacturing. She enjoyed being with her family, watching old movies and going to the casino.

Surviving are her husband Ronald L. Sitzema Sr.; children Greg (Patty) Sitzema of Charlevoix, Dawn (Tim) Shufflin of Jerome; daughters-in-law Gail (Randy) Verburg of Ellsworth and Cindy Sitzema of Banks Township; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Alice (Charles) Bricker of Petoskey. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald Lee Sitzema Jr. and Steven Jay Sitzema; siblings Hildabel Bruce, Edward Thorp, Albert Thorp, John Thorp Sr., Thelma Powell and Agnes Christ.

Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church where friends may call from 12:00 to time of service. Rev. Chris Wallace will officiate Burial will be in Ellsworth Cemetery.
