Wilma Penfold

Wilma W. Penfold, 91, of Atwood, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at her daughter's home in Norwood Township.

She was born September 12, 1922 in Banks Township to Jacob and Engberdena (VanderHeide) Veenstra

On September 4, 1944 she married Darwin P. Penfold in Banks Township where they made their home. Mr. Penfold died in 2001.

Wilma was a member of the Atwood Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed cooking and being with her family. She was the bookkeeper at Penfold Ace Hardware for many years.

Surviving are her children Jake (Dianne) Penfold of Charlevoix, DuWayne (Jean) Penfold of Eugene, Oregon, Sue (Ron) Kabot of Traverse City, Perry Penfold of Comstock Park, Dianne (Richard Sayward) Penfold of Charlevoix, Sheryl (Ralph) Umulis of Interlochen, Paula Penfold of Charlevoix, Daryl (Cindy) Penfold of Caledonia, Dennis (Peggy) Penfold of Atwood, Eileen (Scott) Glick of Niles; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; sisters Gezina Meekhof of Grandville, Minnie Sloothaak of Hamilton, Flora (Tom) Wynsma of Atwood, Jennie VanderKief of Middleville; brothers Miner "Jim" (Patsy) Veenstra, Andrew (Arlene) Veenstra, Jacob (Jan) Veenstra all of Atwood. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amy McCaslin and brother Rev. Paul Veenstra.

Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth on Thursday, April 10, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, at the Atwood Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. David Kroon officiating. Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery.
