William Edward Zimmerman

William Edward “Bill” Zimmerman, age 88, of Ellsworth passed away Friday, September 23, 2022.

He was born the son of Henry and Mary (Merbs) Zimmerman on August, 2, 1934 in Central Lake, Michigan.

Bill enjoyed wood working making whirly gigs.  He was a class A archer, and golden glove boxer.  He and wife Shirley were the managers of the Boyne City laundromat for over 27 years, he also worked for East Jordan Iron Works for 27 years.  Bill was a hardworking man always staying busy, but was well known for his jokes.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Shirley, second wife, Nancy; son, Larry; siblings, Bernadette Delbain, Norma Johnachek, and Clyde Zimmerman; and step grandson Brian Sauer.

Bill is survived by his children, William (Christine) Zimmerman Jr. and Deborah (Dale) May; stepchildren, Sandra (Donald) Sauer-Stein, Mark Kowalewski, and Pamela (Daryl) Smith; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 step great great grandchild.  

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church in Ellsworth, Michigan.
