MANCELONA- William "Bill" Smith, of Mancelona, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015. Bill was born on June 6, 1973, in Traverse City, the son of Kathryn (Patrick) Altrock and Ronald Smith. Upon graduating from Mancelona High School in 1991, he enlisted in the Army National Guard and reached the rank of private. While in the National Guard, he attended and graduated at the top of his class from MoTech Automotive Education Center. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Crystal Iser, in 1998 and their precious daughter, Presley, was born in 2009. Bill was a devoted father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a giving, kind, gentle, soul who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was always up for a good time. He was the first to offer help, but never able to accept it. Mr. Fix-it loved to take "his girls" shopping, go camping, four wheeling, and cook scrumptious meals. This avid Tool fan loved to start a good mosh pit. At Industrial Magnetics Inc., Bill was a fantastic self-taught welder and master practical jokester. He is survived by "his girls" wife, best friend, and soul mate, Crystal Smith, and cherished daughter, Presley Smith of Mancelona; father, Ronald (Tamrah) Smith of Mancelona; brother, Ronald (Anne) Smith of Gaylord; nephews Jakob, Owen, and Kael Smith; numerous family members and a hard core group of good friends. Bill was preceded in death by his mothers Kathryn (Patrick) Altrock and Jeannie Iser. A celebration of Bill's life will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at The Pelican Room Banquet Hall, 2012 NE Torch Lake Dr., Central Lake. Family and friends are encouraged to come and share their favorite memories of Bill.
