William R. Novotny, 87, a lifelong resident of Charlevoix, passed away on June 6, 2019, at home.
Bill was born on August 13, 1931 in Charlevoix, the son of Anthony and Frieda (VanderHagen) Novotny.
Bill was employed by the Medusa Cement Plant in Charlevoix for many years. Following retirement, he and Carole traveled all over the United States with their RV and his motorcycle.
He loved his motorcycle, snowmobiling, and traveling. He was the “fix it guy” who could fix anything and do it cheap.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He is survived by 4 children, Gary Novotny, Terri Novotny, Kim (Rob) Crandell, Tim (Sandy) Novotny all of Charlevoix, 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsay, Chantel, Garrett, Jake, Zack, a brother James Novotny of Charlevoix, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carole Novotny, a son William, brother Ed Novotny and his parents.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 10, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., also at the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Internment with Military Honors will follow at Brookside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
