WILLIAM G. (ALDER) LUTON, 70, of Mancelona, died on April 10, 2010 at his home. William was born on February 23, 1940 in Dearborn, MI., the son of Robert and Eleanor (O'Brien) Luton. William moved to Mancelona in 1948 at the age of 8. He graduated from Mancelona High School in 1958 and excelled in football and track where he held school records. Following high school he went on to become produce manager of 3 A&P Grocery stores in Rogers City and Alpena. He went on to work in Saginaw Steel Construction in Oklahoma and Denver then came back to the Mancelona Area in 1984. In Kentucky in Sept. of 1984 he married Suzzanne Bickes who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Lisa Marie Luton of Mancelona, Andrea Marie Luton of Mancelona, Robert (Karie) Luton of Kalkaska and Debbie Fischer of Florida. In addition to his children he is survived by 2 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Robert (Jane) Luton of Dearborn, Dan Alder of Houghton, MI., and Wilson Alder of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by a son William James Luton, a sister Barbara O'Brien, his mother Eleanor Alder, step-father Gordon Alder, and his father Robert Luton. A memorial service will take place on Wed., April 14 at 5:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Free Methodist Church. Rev. Gerald Cook will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice.
