William Kenney

William E. Kenney, 92, of Charlevoix, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Georgia House in Charlevoix. He was born February 17, 1923, in Covert, Mich. to Lawrence C. and Ida (Bostwick) Kenney.

Bill graduated from high school in South Haven, and attended Kalamazoo Business College. Bill served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked as a bookkeeper for Pomeroy Fuel Company in South Haven for twenty-five years, and at Kit Carson Lumber Company in Charlevoix for fourteen years.

On October 16, 1948, he married Dorothy Marie Kenney in South Haven. They made their home there before moving to Charlevoix in 1975. Dorothy preceded Bill in death on May 3, 1995.

Bill is survived by his children, Thomas Kenney of Curtis, Mary Ann (Robert) Mielke of South Haven, James (Jennifer) Kenney of Charlevoix, Joan (Gary Shaver) Duckworth of Charlevoix; grandchildren, Dustin (Liza) Mielke, Chase (Ashlee) Mielke, Aaron Duckworth, and Amber Duckworth; great-granddaughter, Azelea Mielke; step-grandchildren, Kevin and Nicolas Archambault; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Lahr, LaRue Kenney; son-in-law, Ted Duckworth. Bill's sisters, June Schultz and Lois McDonald, and his brother, Glenn preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Wednesday, October 28, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. Interment will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven at 11 am, Friday, October 30, where military honors will be presented by the US Air Force.
