William C. Carpenter, 71, of Ellsworth, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 17, 1938 in Ellsworth, to Arthur and Nellie B. (Fales) Carpenter. Bill was a lifelong resident of Ellsworth and enjoyed farming, hunting, and traveling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Bill retired from Lamina Bronze in Bellaire after 38 years of dedicated service and was also a past member of the Ellsworth school board for many years. On September 28, 2002 in Central Lake he married Patricia J. Payton who survives. He is also survived by his children James (Janice) Carpenter of Ellsworth, Rhonda (Bryan) Daining of Kewadin, Fran (Mark) Vanniman of Bellaire, Trish's children Amy (Jeff) Joyce and Daniel (Christine) Brooks both of Central Lake, his brother Calvin Carpenter of Holland, his sister Peggy (Bill) Waffle-Clark of Ellsworth, 5 grandchildren Tim (Kristy) Daining of Powell, TN, Andy Ross of Ashfork, AZ, John Daining of New River, AZ, Becky and Alicia Vanniman both of Bellaire, 2 great grandsons Grant Daining and Ty Phillips. He was preceded in death by his first wife Emma Brooks in 1998, his parents, his brother Doyle Carpenter and sister Gloria Carpenter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, with Rev. Powers Payton officiating. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, June 2, from Noon to 3 p.m. also at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held in between the visitation and funeral on Wednesday at the Pleasant Valley Free Methodist Church.
