Willard R. "Wick" Scott, 76, of Central Lake, died at home peacefully, with his loving family by his side, Sun. July 15, 2012. He was born Apr. 23, 1936, in Central Lake, the son of Gleason and Lettitia (Purdy) Scott. He graduated from Central Lake High School in 1954. On Mar. 8, 1956, he married Rose Marie (Mockerman) Scott who preceded him in death in 2004. In 1997, after 43 years, he retired from Oven Fresh Bakery in Grand Rapids and moved back to Central Lake fulltime. Wick was a proud teamster union member. Wick had a strong sense of love for his land. He enjoyed gardening, farming and all aspects of nature. He also enjoyed bowling and watching girl's basketball. Wick was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan and wathced them faithfully. He is survived by his children Mary Wade of Henderson, TX, Ricky Scott of Newberry, Kim Scott of Wyoming, Terry Scott of Bellaire, Cheryl Scott of Grand Rapids, Teresa Lynch of Wyoming, Julia (Fred) Kelly of Central Lake, Valerie Scott of Grand Rapids, 18 grandchildren, 25+ great grandchildren, brothers Jack (Tammy) Scott of Gaylord, Albert (Linda) Scott of Central Lake, sisters Yvonne (John) Howard of Mancelona, Sonya (Don) Olds of Central Lake, sister in laws Pauline Scott of Central Lake, Shirley Scott of Allendale and Diane Simonson of Central Lake, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family. Wick was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gleason "Junior" (Helen), Charles, Bruce, Ralph, Bill (Sandy), and son in laws Jerry and George. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, at 1 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Free Methodist Church with Pastor Dave Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Dunsmore Cemetery, Echo Twp. The family will receive friends Fri. July 20th, from 2-4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen funeral homes. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Huntington's Disease Society of Michigan or Munson Hospice.
