Wilfred Joseph Tremblay, 70, of Mancelona passed away on March 25, 2020. He was born on October 25, 1949 in Petoskey, MI, the son of Napoleon and Bernice (Weaver) Tremblay.
Wilfred moved with his family to a farm in Mancelona from the Detroit area when he was in high school. He graduated from Mancelona High School, and shortly after, he enlisted in the military during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he raised his family in Mancelona, where he also worked as an electrician.
Wilfred loved his family above all else. Although he wasn’t the biggest fan of crowds, those closest to him knew that he would give the shirt off his back for anybody. He was a good listener, he didn’t judge anyone, and he would always offer a helping hand. He was an extremely skilled outdoorsman: from the lake to the woods, he could do it all. He also enjoyed listening and singing along to country music, as well as reading.
Wilfred is survived by three children, Teresa (Charles) Day of Elmira, Shawnna (Hendrix) Blackiston-Tremblay of Gaylord, and Willie Tremblay (Ronda Shepherd) of Mancelona; two sisters, Winifred Stephens of Mancelona and Carol Allred of Mancelona; five grandchildren, Joshua Forbes, Cecelia Firman, Samuel Day, ConnorCameron Wright, and CollinThomas Wright; six great-grandchildren; and his puppy, Precious.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Napoleon and Bernice Tremblay.
