Warren Upthegrove

WARREN J. UPTHEGROVE, 82, of Mancelona, died on March 6, 2010 in Kalkaska. Warren was born on December 4, 1927 in Wayne, Michigan, the son of Warren and Anna (Munger) Upthegrove. Warren was a Mancelona resident for the past 18 years and enjoyed watching Western's, NASCAR racing, bird watching and had a special love for animals. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On July 23, 2000, in Mancelona, he married Joan C. Bevard who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Rodney (Cheryl) Upthegrove and Lonnie McMurtrie both of Mancelona, six grandchildren, Ricky, Emily and Andy Thompson, Tom (Heather) Reust, Heather Reust as well as 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Rick Thompson Upthegrove, a brother Jim Upthegrove, a sister Mary Ann Smith and his parents. Funeral services with military honors will take place on Wednesday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will take place from noon until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
