Warren Frederick Gascoyne, 90, of Bellaire, passed away on August 23, 2015 in Bellaire. Warren was born on May 10, 1925, in Royal Oak, MI, the son of Arlington and Amy (Vroman) Gascoyne. Warren served in World War II in the USCG Merchant Marines from 1943-1946. As well as serving on ships in almost every ocean of the world, he was stationed and served on a supply ship which transported troops and supplies in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He worked 40 years as a printer for the Detroit News, then upon retirement in 1986 he moved to Bellaire from Berkley, MI where he loved the small town life. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids. He will be missed for his quiet, gentle, and friendly nature, and for his wonderful sense of humor, and practical jokes. On Sept. 4, 1948, in Detroit, he married Clara Jean (Ganzel) Gascoyne who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were a son Mark W. Gascoyne, brother Paul Gascoyne as well as his parents. He is survived by two daughters, Laura (Dennis) Young of Bellaire, Karey (Lawrence) Janes of Clarkston, MI, a son Brian Gascoyne of Bellaire, 7 grandchildren, Heather Rogers, Kelly Short, Matthew Dreves, Jeffrey Janes, Adam Janes, Ronna Gascoyne, Timothy Gascoyne, 3 step-grandchildren, Kelli, Ryan, and Darin Young as well as 8 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids. The Rev. Dr. Kathleen Kircher will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire or St Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids.
