WANETTA M. JAMES, 93, of Traverse City, formerly of Central Lake, died on Feb. 10, 2011 at Munson Hospice House. Wanetta was born on March 11, 1917 in Helena Township, Michigan, the daughter of Ray and Lena (Turk) Harrington. Wanetta was a Central Lake resident for many years and was a longtime member of the Central Lake First Congregational Church as well as the Eastern Star. She owned and operated James Hardware for many years and enjoyed bowling. On November 7, 1936 in Alden, she married Carroll James who preceded her in death in 1995. Also preceding her in death were a son Richard James, a sister Frieda Harrington, a brother Ross Harrington and her parents. Surviving are a daughter Sharon Matthew of Traverse City, a son Ron James of Monterey, CA., a brother Ray Harrington of Alden, 8 sisters, Wanda Shisler of Grand Rapids, Helen (Jack) Coatta of Florida, Evi Edwards of Bellaire, Dori Morrison of Rapid City, Ann (Jim) Woodruff of Rapid City, Shirley (Howard) Grody of Mancelona, Dawn Hebden of Bellaire and Georgeann Kosiara of Alden, two grandchildren, Jamie (Keith) Sutton of Interlochen, Tonya Harrington of Novi, three great-great grandchildren, Richard Waters, Matthew Harrington, Nicholas Matthew, three great-great grandchildren, Devin, Rose and Draven as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor John Gleason will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
