Walter Wolletz

Walter W. "Opa" Wolletz,  86, of East Jordan, passed away on March 26, 2021 at Charlevoix Munson Hospital.

Opa was born on March 30, 1934, in Homberg, Germany, the son of Wilhelm and Anna (Lauricks) Wolletz.

He was a car racing fan no matter the type.   In his younger years, he raced himself at various tracks mainly in Formula V.   He could also be found watching races on TV, especially Indy Cars.

Opa also enjoyed following soccer and was a long time member of the Charlevoix Community Reformed Church.

On March 5, 1966, in St. Clair Shores, MI, he married Karen J. Davis who survives.   Also surviving are 2 children, Denice Milazzo of Charlevoix, Steven (Yolanda) Wolletz of Wasilla, AK, a half brother Freidel Wolletz of Germany, 7 grandchildren, Stephanie (Cody) FitzGerald, Alyssa Milazzo, Gabrielle Milazzo (Fiance Austin Wade) Danielle MIlazzo, Joshua Wolletz, Micheal Wolletz, Cameron Quinlivan, 3 great-grandchildren, Daxton Milazzo, Connor FitzGerald and Eileen FitzGerald.

He was preceded in death by a son Eric Wolletz, grandson Jay Wolletz, 2 brothers Otto and Willie Wolletz, a half sister Annaliese Wolletz and his parents.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Charlevoix Community Reformed Church with Rev. Chris Maki officiating.  The family will receive friends  from 11-1 at the church Tuesday.

Interment will follow in Barnard Cemetery, Marion Township.

Due to Covid 19, the church is asking that all attending the service  practice safe social distancing and wear masks.   There will not be any gathering at the church following services.
