Walter Wilson Sr

Walter N. Wilson Sr., 88, of Mancelona, passed away on May 14, 2017 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Walt was born on June 17, 1928, in Bellaire, the son of Roy and Blanche (Holden) Wilson. Walt had worked at the Antrim County Farm (now known as Meadow Brook) in Bellaire, he then worked at Mt. Clemens Metal Products in Mancelona and most recently at Lamina Bronze for 31 years. He was a member of the Mancelona Area Senior Center since 1995, the Mancelona Free Methodist Church, and served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He is survived by 4 children, Dorothy Schram of Mancelona, Fleda McWatters of Grayling, Walter (Phyllis) Wilson Jr., of Dayton, OH, Phillip (Jennifer) Wilson of Mancelona, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara Ann Wilson, 4 brothers, Clayton, Archie, Clare, Jim and George Wilson, 2 sisters, Rulea Alexander, Zella Udell, his parents and 2 grandsons. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Jerry Cook officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
