Vivian D. Koyl, 82, of Mancelona, passed away on August 18, 2018 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Vivian was born on February 9, 1936, in Mancelona, the daughter of John and Edna (Spires) Russell.
Vivian was a “people person” and a caring mom. She enjoyed NASCAR as well as riding motorcycles, playing bingo and most of all spending time with her pets.
She grew up in Mancelona then traveled with her first husband who was in the Air Force until 1973. Then they came back to the Mancelona and Gaylord areas. She was a longtime press operator at Mancelona Metals. She then moved to Ypsilanti in 1990 with her second husband. In October of 2015, she returned to northern Michigan/Mancelona.
She is survived by a son John (Angela) Cantrell of Mancelona, three brothers, Harold (Evelyn) Russell of Mancelona, Cass (Donna) Russell of Charlevoix, Elzie (Mary) Russell of Mancelona, several nieces and nephews and a special friend Jim Glover of Ypsilanti.
She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Koyl, a sister Donna Simon as well as her parents.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America or to AC Paw.
