Vicky Alice Perkins, 72 of Central Lake, died peacefully, July 1, 2015 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She was born September 18, 1942 in Charlevoix, the daughter of Ervin and Marvel (Smith) Racignol. Vicky was a graduate of CMU with a teaching degree in special education. She had a brilliant mind, teaching in Lincoln Park and East Jordan, before coming to Central Lake and teaching Kindergarten for many years. She retired in 1994. Vicky had a very kind and giving heart, generous to all those she knew. She cherished spending time baking and crafting with her grandchildren. She loved pets, reading and doing needlework. Vicky was a member of the Belltower Reformed Church in Ellsworth. On February 7, 1964 in Eaton Rapids, she married H. Norman Perkins, who survives. Also surviving are her children Matt (Michelle) Perkins, Kate (Rob) Essenberg, brother Jim (Pat) Racignol, grandchildren Alex Perkins, Cole Essenberg, Matilda Perkins, Tess Perkins, and Brooke Essenberg. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Belltower Reformed Church with Rev. Jared VanNoord officiating. A private burial will take place in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
