Vernard W. Williams, 84, of Bellaire, died Mon. Oct. 24, 2011 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. He was born Mar. 29, 1927, in Bellaire, the son of Charles Andrew and Ermine Edna (Wright) Williams. Vern attended Bellaire High School thru 10th grade and then went into the U.S. Navy. After 8yrs of service including WWII, he was honorably discharged. Vern went on to be a carpenter in Ann Arbor the rest of his life until retirement. Upon retirement he moved back to Bellaire to the family homestead. Vern loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He wintered in Texas for 5 years and enjoyed fishing in the ocean. Vern is survived by his son Ferris Williams of Charleston, South Carolina, his niece Lorraine Loveland of Brighton and her family. He was preceded in death by his wife Rena, his parents and sister Clyda Bush. A memorial service will be held Sat. Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place, next to his wife in Hamburg Cemetery, Hamburg, MI.
