Verna Faries

VERNA L. FARIES, 73, of Central Lake, died on Monday, October 26, 2009 at her home. Verna was born on September 5, 1936 in Bellaire, the daughter of William and Rose (Aenis) Miles. Verna was a resident of Central Lake since 1992 and was a long time member of the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. She was employed with the Woodhaven Public School system as a bus driver and a cook for many years. On March 21, 1954 in Flat Rock, MI., she married Teddy Faries who survives. Also surviving are six children, William R. (Angel) Faries of Southgate, Theresa Rose (David) Wyatt of Newport, MI., Barbara A. Patterson of Flat Rock, Katherine L. Faries of Central Lake, Alice F. Faries of Central Lake, Tammy S. (Pat) McIntyre of Duluth, MN., 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, three sisters, Marian McClain of Taylor, Alice (David) Brown of Cadillac, Susan Brammer of East Jordan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Lynn Faries, three brothers, Paul Miles, Clayton "Dick" Miles, Dale Miles, a grandson Nicholas and her parents. Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 30 at Two p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Janie Beasley will officiate. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
