Venessa Coeleen Van Horn, 47 of Central Lake joined the angels April 29, 2021 after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born July 26, 1973 in Flint, the daughter of Jack and Beverly (Meeker) Adkins.
In her younger days Venessa worked for many years at Shanty Creek Resorts. The last 20 years, Venessa was a dedicated employee of the Central Lake Public Schools as a custodian. Venessa was known as “Ms. Fix It”. Whether it had to do with motors, tech gadgets, or any kind of repair she could handle it with ease.
Venessa enjoyed gardening and making candles. She especially enjoyed selling those candles with her sister Melody at craft shows in the summer. She was kind and compassionate and often took in people and animals that needed a place to stay. She loved animals and had many over the years.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Colton (Heather Blanchard) Meeker and granddaughter Lexie Leona Adeline Meeker, her sisters Brenda (Richard) Hamilton, Melody (Bill) Drogt, Valerie (Howard) Peters, Heather Manning, Melissa Adkins, brother Jackie Adkins, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her fiancé Patrick Corbett in 2015, sisters Debbie Griffin, Vicky Stacy, and Dawn Buck.
Memorial contributions can be given to an animal rescue of your choice.
Private family services will be held.
Arrangements have been handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
