Trudy Lynne Chappell, 78, of Bellaire, passed away on April 10, 2022, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease: she died peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Trudy is survived by her husband Don with whom she spent 32 years. Their marriage brought together two families blending five children: Kelli (Michael) DeBello, Shelli (Casey) Guthrie, Jennifer (Michael) Lorenz, Scott (Kenneth Barner) Chappell, Gordie (Kim) Chappell, who presented them with 10 grandchildren. In addition, she had two sisters who added five nieces and nephews. Trudy's love and nurturing enveloped them all.
Trudy's world opened when Don took her hand, and over their years together they spent time traveling on boats, planes, kayaks, and motorcycles, and always Trudy felt safe and loved by him. Then the insidious Alzheimer's Disease entered their lives and slowly Trudy's world shrank and disappeared, and Don held her hand through it all.
Alzheimer's Disease has no boundaries and along with its victim, it will take down entire families if allowed. Trudy's family found the only response to Alzeheimer's is asking for help, leaning on others, and trusting in God--all things Trudy lived by through her years.
Thank you to NPalliative Care and Promedica Hospice for their professionalism and empathy while administering to Trudy and supporting our family.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022, at the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Phillips officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Don suggests "buying a bag of food and donating it to local animal shelters.”
Arrangements are in the care of the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Please sign her online guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
