Todd Steiner

Todd Daniel Steiner, 36, of Bellaire, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Todd was born March 13, 1979 in Traverse City, Michigan to Ann and Dan Steiner and welcomed home by his big sister, Heidi. He attended special education classes through the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District, graduating in 2005 from the Adult Work Center. Following his graduation, he was employed by Grand Traverse Industries in Mancelona where he was known as the King Shredder. As a youngster, Todd learned to talk by listening to Elvis music. The first song he learned to sing was "I Can't Help Falling in Love with You." He loved attending many concerts by his good friend, Jake Slater, Elvis tribute artist. Todd always had a big smile, a loud hello, and a thumbs up for everyone. He loved boating, floating in his tube, playing at the Torch Lake Sandbar, dinners with family and friends, playing basketball, and sitting on his swing watching the water, trees, and beautiful Torch Lake sunsets. He spent his winters in Siesta Key, Florida visiting friends and celebrating his birthday each year on the beach. He spent his mornings fishing with mom and dad and the afternoons with his headphones on people watching, swimming, and walking the beach Todd attended the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church with his family. Attending the Sunday morning worship services and the following coffee hour was one of the highlights of his week. He also enjoyed his Saturday respite activities with Eunice, Stephanie and Troy Kimbler. Todd was a huge Bellaire sports fan attending many games. He also loved watching the Tigers and the Wolverines. Even though he loved the maize and blue, he would occasionally yell Go Green, when prompted (or perhaps, misled). Todd is survived by his parents, Ann and Dan Steiner, his grandparents, Wayne and Delores Steiner, his Aunts and Uncles: Phillip Hood, Linda (Dan) Stenberg, Scott (Karen) Steiner, his Cousins: John Hood, Mollie (Josh) Smith, Scott (Jamie) Steiner, Jeff (Emily) Steiner, Nick (Alissa) Steiner, Mark (Amy) Stenberg, Catherine (Ron) Johnson, Amy (Bob) Schlotterer, and several second cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Heidi, his aunt, Linda Hood, and his maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Bernice Nolting. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Bellaire High School. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Home and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Bellaire High School.
