Timothy D. Watters, 62 of Bellaire, died peacefully at home after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 30, 1953 in Saginaw the son of Frances (Tilden) and Melvin Watters, graduating from Arthur Hill High School. He went on to get his electrical engineering degree from Delta College and worked for many years in the automated technology field. On July 22, 1972 in Saginaw he married Karen Kaleyta and together in 1993 they relocated to Charlevoix to open the Belvedere Inn Bed and Breakfast. There he discovered his love for smoking things which lead him to Bellaire and the creation of the Bellaire Smokehouse in 1997. Tim was passionate, caring, and kind hearted. He never missed a chance to visit or lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed photography and music; collecting art glass, rocks, knives and everything in between. He was an avid beer connoisseur and the first to sell craft beer in the area. Tim enjoyed a life of traveling all over the country and Europe, making friends everywhere he went. Tim had a way of turning acquaintances into friends. He loved and cherished his family above all else and was the neighborhood grandpa. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years Karen, his children Jeffery Watters, Stephanie (Mark) Becmer and Tina Becmer, his mother Fran (Tom) Neville, grandchildren Kyle, Kaylieanna, and Justin Becmer, Blake, Gavin and Luke Watters and Brenden Becmer, brother Mike (Debbie) Watters, sisters Sandy (John) Aaron, Patty (Bob) Friot, Catherine (Fred) Bigler, and Joanne (George) Steinbis and his "brother from another mother" Eckhard Thiele. He was preceded in death by his father and his nephew Justin King. A celebration of life will be held Mon. Jan. 18, at 3 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 1 pm until the time of service. Memorial donations can be given to Munson Hospice. Please sign his online guestbook www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
