Timothy J. Hoffman, 77, of Echo Township, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at Charlevoix Area Hospital.
He was born November 16, 1935 in Dennison, Ohio, the son of Richard and Catherine (Mather) Hoffman.
On July 6, 1961, he married Myra James in Charlevoix. They made their home in Detroit, moving to East Jordan in 1966 and to Echo Township in 2011.
Tim served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He worked as a deputy for the Charlevoix County Sheriff Department and later the East Jordan Police Department. He later worked at Dura in East Jordan until his retirement.
He enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, cars, and repairing bikes for needy kids. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Myra; children Timothy (Marcia) Hoffman and Richard (Debbie) Hoffman both of Ellsworth, Roxanne (Lee) Folsom and John Hoffman both of East Jordan; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a sister Mary Ann Warden and brother Richard Hoffman.
Visitation was held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth from 4 to 7 p.m.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Ellsworth Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Chris Wallace officiating.
Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, November 26 in Southern Cemetery in Central Lake.
