Thomas M. Wynsma Jr.

Thomas M. Wynsma Jr., 94, of Atwood, passed away on August 6, 2023. He was born on January 22, 1929, in Grand Rapids, the son of Thomas and Ella (Judy) Wynsma.

On August 21, 1953, in Atwood, Tom married the love of his life, Flora. They would go on to own the Atwood Shopping Center together for over twenty years. Church was always very important to Tom; He was a member and Treasurer at the Atwood Christian Reformed Church for many years until the church closed down. Tom then became a member of the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church.  He enjoyed being with his family and watching the sun set over the horizon.

Surviving Tom in death is his wife Flora, 3 children, Timothy (Sue) Wynsma of Redmond, WA, Stephen (Linda) Wynsma of Long Beach, CA, Kevin Wynsma of Atwood, five grandchildren, Phillip, Ben, Sam, Rebecca, and Rachel Wynsma, six great-grandchildren, and sister Betty of Goshen, IN.

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, daughter DeeAnn Wynsma Mathews, and two brothers, Burt and Bill.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Ellsworth Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ellsworth Christian Reformed Church. Interment will follow at Atwood Cemetery.
