Thomas Francis Sisterhen, 86, London passed away peacefully with family at his side on December 6, 2012. He was born November 29, 1926, the only son of Claude and Marie Sisterhen. Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, he graduated from Canton McKinley High school in 1944. Many of the friendships formed in Canton have lasted a lifetime. He graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1947 and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, cum laude, in 1951. While in dental school he met the love of his life, Sally Miller, and they were married June 24, 1950. After graduation they moved to London to begin a dental practice and start a family. He practiced family dentistry in London for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Tom was a member of Phi Kappa Psi, Psi Omega Dental Fraternity, the Columbus Dental Society, the London Country Club and the First United Methodist Church. Tom loved music, gardening, nature and spending his summers in northern Michigan with his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was an avid Ohio State football and basketball fan, but most of all he cherished and nurtured his family. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years and best friend, Sally. He was the loving father of three daughters Nancy (Harold) Weese of Jeykyl Island, GA, Diane (Jim) Slagle of London, and Susan (Jim) Abdnor of Arlington Heights, IL; proud grandpa of Brian (Melanie), David, and Mark (Abby) Weese, Chris Slagle, Jon and Amy Abdnor; caring great-grandpa, known as "Scooter" to Sarah and Anna Weese; special uncle to Linda (George) Stevenson, Sally (Ron) Mackert and John (Leslie) Testement. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the people of Loving Care Hospice and Sisters for their compassionate care. Visitation will be at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, London from 4-8 PM Monday.. The service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church of London, Pastor Steve Rodgers officiating. A private burial will be later at Lakeview Cemetery in Bellaire, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the London Public Library or the First United Methodist Church of London.
