Thomas Michael Poley, 66, of Alba, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. He was born on August 29, 1953 in Toledo, OH, the son of Howard and Viola (Curtiss) Poley.
Thomas lived for the thrills in life. He loved Harleys—from riding them to fixing them (or fixing anything at all)—he was a Harley man through and through. In the summers, he spent his Saturdays racing his #12 car at Merritt Speedway. When he wasn’t riding or racing, he enjoyed golfing, playing guitar, and going to the senior center for dancing and karaoke. He will be dearly missed by many people in the community.
Thomas is survived by his mother, Viola; four children, Joshua (Alicia) Poley of Mancelona, Sarah Washburn (fiancé Dirk) of Alba, Tracey Poley of Franklin, VA, and Robert J. Washburn of Alba; two brothers, Howard (Ann) Poley Jr. of Ann Arbor, and Jerry (Vicki) Poley of Ann Arbor; and 14 grandchildren, Skyanne Washburn, Trinity Washburn, Gabriella Washburn, Julianna Washburn, Blake Washburn, Jacob Striggow, Caleb Striggow, Malaki Poley, Audrey Poley, Joshua Thomas Poley Jr., Zoey Poley, Ryenn Farabaugh, Devan Hale, and Jason Hale Jr.
He was preceded in death by his father, Howard; his brother, Robert Poley; and three grandchildren, Faith, Christian Thomas, and Christian Lowell Zbikowski.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 129 Jefferson Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
