Theron Luft

Theron J. Luft, 91, of Bellaire, passed away on April 7, 2015 at his home. Theron was born on August 1, 1923, in Fountain, MI, the son of John and Sylvia (Peterbaugh) Luft. Theron served in the U.S. Air Force and worked in the insurance industry. He went on to sell insurance for the Equitable Insurance Company then owned and operated his own insurance company, Mancelona Insurance for 15 years. His greatest love was the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood cutting, smoking cigars and drinking beer. He is survived by his significant other of 24 years, Denyse Snider of Bellaire, 3 children, Leslie Luft of Pontiac, MI, Theron Luft of Kalkaska, Dolly Abbey of Traverse City, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 1-3 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with a service beginning at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Mark Belanger will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice. Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
