Terry Davock Rowe passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at her home on Torch Lake with her loved ones at her side. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia in 1942 to Harlow Palmer Davock and Ruth Johnson Davock. She grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida summering on Torch Lake and on the family farm in Antrim County, Michigan. She lived on the water in both places and loved any activity in or on the water. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Richmond, Virginia and the University of Florida going on to graduate studies at the University of Hawaii and Loyola University. Terry was very active and enjoyed snowmobiling, riding her motorcycle and her horse, scuba diving, and travelling.
She joined The Junior League in Ft. Lauderdale and was a member of the Presbyterian Church there from childhood until 1992. She ran youth programs in the Presbyterian Churches in Mercer Island, Washington; Alexandria, Virginia; and Bellaire, Michigan. Terry taught school in Daytona Beach, Florida and Waipahu, Hawaii and volunteered in school systems wherever she lived after that. Terry served on the School Board of Bellaire Public Schools, the Regional TBA School Board, and the NMC University Center Board. She was a member and past president of the Bellaire Lioness Club as well as past president of the Meadowbrook Foundation. Terry belonged to the Torch Lake Yacht Club where she had served as Commodore. Terry also belonged to the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church where she had been active on the Staff Parish Committee and Stephen Ministry. Terry had been a member of Greater Naples Leadership in Naples, Florida.
Terry’s family was the center of her life: she and her husband, Gerry, shared a love of travel and spending time with their many friends in Michigan and Florida. Gerry’s love and care brought Terry great joy. Terry is survived by her brother, Palmer Davock, whom she loved and cared for throughout her life. Terry will be missed by her loving sons Stephen (Stacey) and Bradley (Annie); and Gerry’s sons Mike (Tina) and Paul (Beth). Terry was blessed with many grandchildren: Anya, Hunter, Autumn, Grace, Keely, Charlie, Michael, Nick, and Topher who remember her affectionately.
