Tena D. John, 31, of Peshawbestown, passed away on December 26, 2017 in Traverse City.

Tena was born on October 19, 1986, in Traverse City, the daughter of Raymond and Myra (Miracle) John.

She enjoyed taking care of people around her and was a great aunt.  She was a traditional native dancer with her favorite title being “auntie”.  She enjoyed beadwork art, going on cruises with “Mim” and was an avid and obsessive Batman fan. Tena never missed a Comic Con.

She is survived by her mother Myra John of Peshawbestown, three siblings, Troy (Shannon) John of Peshawbestown, Tera (Arthur Mosqueda) John of Peshawbestown, Teia (Timothy Wheelock) John of Traverse City, 6 chickens, Jennifer, Jamie, Eve, Araya, Alora, Allen, 3 great-chickens, Trinity, Isaiah, Zariah, many, many other members of her flock, 4 booger brothers and sisters, Chad, Sharon, Maggie, Theresa and her best friends, Kyle McKay and Karlyn Hawkins.

She was preceded in death by her father Raymond John, her maternal grandparents, Eva and Frank Miracle, Paternal grandparents, Harry and Ida John as well as several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, January 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Strongheart Center, 2600 Strongheart Way, Peshawbestown. Jody Betten and Robin Carden will officiate.

Visitation will begin on Saturday at Noon at her home, 2588 N. Peshawbestown Rd., and will continue until moving to the Strongheart Center Monday for services. The sacred fire is going currently and will continue on until Monday at her home.  An informal wake and song service will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday at her house.

Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
