Steven Richard McClure, age 45, passed away on May 11, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Steven was born in Boulder, CO on January 26, 1973, the son of Charles McClure and Irene McClure (nee Boris). The family had moved from Michigan to Colorado (where they lived for several years) before journeying to Alaska, where they resided for 14 years. Steven, his parents, and older brother returned to Boyne City, the childhood home of his parents, in 1986. His older sisters later relocated to the area as well.
Steven met his loving wife, Lisa McClure (nee Hunt) at Boyne City High School, where they both graduated in 1991. They married October 19, 1991 in Boyne City, MI. They had two children, Samantha McClure and Steven W. McClure.
Steven loved playing guitar, spending time with family, being around animals, playing World of Warcraft, and woodworking. He considered Willow, Alaska his home, and spoke often of wanting to return there. One of his fondest childhood memories was of spending time with his ducks who he named “Duffy and the gang”. Steven was a very proud father; he was never more excited than when his children and grandchildren spent time with him.
Steven was preceded in death by his nephew and best friend, Trent Harter. Steven is survived by his wife, Lisa McClure, daughter Samantha McClure, son Steven McClure and wife Emma, siblings Tamilla McClure, Charlynn McClure, and Charles McClure II, and grandchildren Kaidyn (son of Samanth and Josh Elzinga), Dominic (son of Samantha and Aaron Goodwin), Adalyn (daughter of Samantha and Jon Dunlop), and Wesley McClure (son of Steven McClure and wife, Emma McClure), as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Two additional grandchildren are expected to be born this year.
Steven will be cremated. His family will have a celebration of life in lieu of a memorial service.
