Steven H. Hoalt, 62, of Bellaire, passed away on April 13, 2015 at his home. Steve was born on December 24, 1952, in Melrose Park, IL, the son of Emil and Lorraine (Runnion) Hoalt. Steve resided in Bellaire most of his life where he graduated from Bellaire High School. He then went on to graduate from Northern Michigan University where he earned a BA, majoring in Earth Science with a minor in conservation. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed mushroom hunting, and fireworks on the 4th of July. He was a Detroit sports fanatic including the Red Wings, Lions and Tigers. You could often find Steve reading a book, sitting at a bonfire or discussing history which he loved. He is survived by 2 children, Paula (Zach) Piscopo of Rapid City, Ian Hoalt of Bellaire, a granddaughter Nora Piscopo, 2 brothers, Kenneth (Pam) Hoalt of Canton, OH, William (Carol) Hoalt of Shalimar, Fla, 4 sisters, Sally Watrous of Standish, MI, Linda Holton of Bellaire, Theresa (Roger) Kent of Bellaire, JoAnn Hoalt also of Bellaire as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Susan Flanagan. There will be a bonfire and celebration of Steve's life on Sat. April 25, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at his sister Theresa Kent's home at 8247 Dunson Rd., Bellaire, MI, 49615. Instead of sending a memorial contribution the family would like to ask that instead, please plant a tree in Steve's name so you can watch it grow.
