Steven J. DeNike, 58, of Bellaire, passed away on November 3, 2018 at his home.
Steve was born on November 27, 1959, in Highland Park, MI, the son of Clarence and Hilda (Popp) DeNike.
Steve was an intelligent, giving man who was always there to help anyone in need, especially his family.
He earned his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Tech University and was employed at Albert Kahn Associates Inc. in Detroit for many years.
He was an adventurous man who enjoyed a lot of outdoor activities. He was especially fond of boating, fishing, animals, rock music, rock collecting, animals and kids.
In his last years, Steve struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. He is now free and at peace in Paradise.
He is survived by his parents, Hilda (Frank) Krystiniak of Traverse City, 3 sisters, Susan (Ron) Jostock of Lapeer, Sheryl (Mark) Sblendorio of N.C., Shelly (Greg) Campbell of AK, 6 nephews, Spencer and Scott Morris, Zack, Cody and Ross Sblendorio and Ronnie Jostock.
There will be a viewing for family and friends on Saturday, November 10 from 12-3 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
Private family services will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to FCC Youth Group, P.O. Box 326, Central Lake, MI, 49622. Donations will help the kids of the First Congregational Church be able to attend winter camp.
