Stanley Konsky

Stanley J. Konsky, 88, of Elmira, passed away March 13, 2012 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. He was born January 21, 1924 in Maryville, IL., the son of Anthony and Sophie Konsky. Stanley was proud to be a Marine. He was a Veteran of WWII while serving in the Pacific Campaign. He fought in combat in Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa and Occupied Nagasaki September 23, 1945. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed being part of the organization. He loved hunting fishing and writing poetry. He and his wife Josephine lived in Harper Woods for 40 years before moving to Lakes of the North in 1986. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. On April 19, 1947, in Detroit, he married Josephine (Nova) Konsky who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Kathleen (Dennis) Leysen of 'Lakes of the North' Elmira, and Nancy Konsky of Chelsea; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Rivard of Warren and Alice Johnson of Dunedin, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Monick and Richard; three sisters, Helen Deriemaecker, Mary Louise (Dot) Osterlund and Stella Konsky. Services will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Mark McCool officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
