Shirley C. Ormsby, 90, of Charlevoix, passed away on September 30, 2019 at the Georgia House.
Shirley was born on September 11, 1929, in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of Carl and Agnes (Davis) Pahl.
Shirley was a Buckley and Traverse City resident for many years prior to moving to Charlevoix. She’s a past member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Traverse City as well as a present member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Charlevoix.
Shirley worked for many years at Hoskins Manufacturing in Charlevoix, where she traveled many times to train employees at their other plants in Michigan, Indiana, and Ireland.
She enjoyed crafting and gardening as well as being on the Bethany Lutheran Church Altar Guild and volunteering at the Rainbow Shop.
On November 1, 1947, in Buckley, she married William E. Ormsby who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda (James) Willis of Kalamazoo, Carol (Thomas) Ochs of Charlevoix, a daughter-in-law Ellen Ormsby of Clinton Twp, 7 grandchildren, Derek, Sara (Rich), Nathaniel (Erin), Heather (Mick), Christina (Donald), Grace, Hannah, as well as 8 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Logan, Peyton, Lilia, Dominic, Joshua, Sophia, and Madison.
She was preceded in death by a son Terry Ormsby, 2 brothers, Carl and Melvin Pahl as well as her parents.
Shirley was devoted to and loved by her family. She cherished gathering and celebrating with her family – especially when cake was involved! Her family was blessed to share in her long and happy life well-lived.
A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Charlevoix. Pastor Michael Teuscher will officiate.
