Shirley Evans

Shirley L. Evans, 82, of Central Lake, died Sat. March 2, 2013 at home. She was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Traverse City, the daughter of Frank C. and Elsie M. (Lee) Antene. Shirley was an active member of the Central Lake VFW #6985 and was their past president 2 times. She was a "road runner" who enjoyed being out in the public talking with people and having coffee hour in town, sometimes several times a day with her cronies. Shirley also enjoyed her time at the casino with her grandson Jay. On Feb. 23, 1963 in Traverse City, she married Roy Evans, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Florence Light, and brothers Claude and Victor Antene. Shirley is survived by her daughter Linda L. Shepard of Central Lake, son Michael W. (Sandra) Rupright of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren Kimberly Rupright, Jay (Virginia) Springstead, Clayton Shepard, Michael Rupright, 2 great grandchildren, and nephew Frank Antene. No services are planned at this time.
