Shirley Denman

Shirley Louise Denman, 89, of Elk Rapids, passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2019, at home.  She was born in Traverse City, MI on April 6, 1930, the daughter of Floyd and Margaret (Lewis) Ealy.

Shirley married her husband, Gene Denman Sr., on March 8, 1948 in Traverse City, MI.  Together, they opened Gene’s Auto Parts where Shirley managed the books. She and Gene were proud members of the Traverse City Country Club and the local Elks Lodge. She enjoyed many winters in Florida and on several occasions, traveled with Gene on their boat between Traverse City and their winter home in Palm City, Fl. She was an avid reader, passionate Bridge player, competitive golfer, and skilled painter. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by five children, Dawn (Charles) Davis of California, Gene Denman Jr. of Traverse City, Clay Denman of Traverse City, Brad Denman of Traverse City, and Terry (Heidi) Denman of Traverse City; two sisters, Gloria and Judy; eleven grandchildren, Rebeka (Tom), Karla (Matt), Torey, Amanda, Monica (Lori), Randy, Jason, Jake (Shea), Marshall, Nick, and Taylor; and fourteen great grandchildren, Annabelle, Emmalene, Lincoln, Ada, Sebastian, Jayden, Hailey, Lauren, Adam, Thanyell, Ryan, Ben, Matthew, and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Sally; and a granddaughter, Nicolette.
