Shirley Carper

Shirley Lou Carper, 64, of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital. Shirley was born on January 30, 1947 in Alba, Michigan the daughter of Gerald and Ardath (Bush) Gates. She truly loved her family especially her grandchildren. She retired from Chase Bank for 20 years of service, enjoyed traveling, shopping and car shows. She was active at New Life Ministries in Burton, Michigan. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Charles Carper; two children, Michele Carper-Stephenson (Bill II) of Flint, Scott and FiancAC. Kathy of Burton; four grandchildren, Tabitha Carper, Tyler, Torrey and Taylor Rice; one step-granddaughter, Michele Stephenson; one great-granddaughter on the way in September; siblings, Paul Gates, Lois Soltysiak, Marion Zuercher, Wilford Gates, Darlene Carper, Lavern Gates and Robert Gates; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Jerry Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Star Township Cemetery in Alba. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. also at the Funeral Home.
