Shelly Dorland

Shelly Sue Dorland, 52, of Kewadin passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.  She was born on June 25, 1968 in Charlevoix, MI, the daughter of Henry “Bud” and Rosa (Ross) Klooster.

Shelly was loved by everyone that knew her and she loved them just the same.  She was a strong, confident woman who could handle things herself.  She also loved horses and dogs.  She was always the first to jump at the opportunity to help with school functions and sporting events for her children.

She worked as a dental hygienist at Bellaire Dental Health Care, and previously with Dr. Dibble in Central Lake. She was a member of the Eastport Baptist church where she also played the organ.

Shelly is survived by two children, Samuel Dorland and Sara Dorland, both of Eastport; one sister, Linda (Everett) Ingalls of Ellsworth; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Gary Klooster, Mike Klooster, and Gerald Klooster.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 15 at the Eastport Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Troyer officiating.  Due to limited capacity at the church, all are welcome at interment in Norwood Township Cemetery following funeral services.  The family requests that masks be worn at indoor services as Shelly would have asked that herself.
