Shelley “Nana” Charbonneau, 66, of Bellaire, passed away on September 7, 2018 at home surrounded by family.

Shelley was born on July 3, 1952, in Bay City, MI, the only daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Donnelley) Peterson.

Shelley was a very active lady, the most important things in her life were her family, her faith and her band “Loose Change” that she played in for over 20 years.

She enjoyed traveling, fishing, bow hunting, and music.  There wasn’t a musical instrument she couldn’t play.  She also liked horses and reading.

She will be remembered as a loving “nana”, wonderful wife, mother, friend, daughter, and sister.

On December 22, 1973, in West Branch, MI, she Married William J. Charbonneau who survives.  Also surviving are 4 children, Theresa Charbonneau (Martin Zaka) of Bellaire, Rich (Holly) Charbonneau of Rapid City, Todd Charbonneau of Kalkaska, Ginger (Melissa) Kaikkonen of Bellaire, her mother Helen Peterson of Bay City, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with one more on the way, 3 brothers, Danny (Kitty) Peterson of Lyons, MI, Larry (Virginia) Peterson of Bay City, MI, and Kim (Lori) Peterson of Edmore, MI.

She was preceded in death by her father Lawrence Peterson, a brother Michael Peterson, aunt Patricia Donnelley, uncle Robert (Aunt Jo) Donnelley as well as her grandparents.

A gathering of friends and family will take place on Wednesday, September 12 from 2-4 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

Shelley and her family would like to thank everyone in the community for their continuous support and prayers throughout her illness in the past years.
