Sheila Marie Stevens, age 84, of Bellaire, Michigan, passed away on December 23, 2022 at her home. She will be missed by the many friends and family who loved her and appreciated her for her kindness and generosity. Sheila was born on November 26, 1938, to James & Agnes (LaMothe) Stevens in Detroit, Michigan.
She graduated from Immaculate High School in 1956 and went on to study for her Bachelor of Arts (teaching) Degree at Madonna University. Sheila completed her education with a Master Degree. She spent a lifetime in the field of Education. She retired July 1997 with 34 years of service. She ended her career teaching at Lake Shore Public Schools in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. She went out of her way in tutoring students and assisting new teachers to help them achieve their educational goals.
She was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Church and served in various capacities and was known to be a very generous person throughout the community.
Sheila had three dogs Lucy, Charlie and Ethel, they were all of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed and loved them like children. She took them everywhere and gave them a great deal of special attention. The dogs clearly loved the special relationships they had with her.
Sheila was very good at piecing together family history which took her back to Ireland. She was a historian and enjoyed going thru records revealing untold stories and interesting facts about her family. During her life she took two trips to Ireland gathering information about her ancestors.
Sheila is survived by a sister Kathleen Vanden Bruelle of Brighton, Michigan and a brother James Stevens (Csilla) of Bay Village, OH and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother & father James & Agnes (LaMothe) Stevens and her brothers, Kenneth Stevens & Charles Stevens.
A celebration of Sheila's Life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced as they are made available.
