Sgt. Calo

Sgt Jason D. Calo, 23, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 in Helmand, Afghanistan while proudly serving his country in the United States Marines. Jason was born in Grayling, Michigan on January 26, 1987. He graduated from Mancelona High School in 2005. He was active in High School as a Quarterback for the Varsity Football team along with wrestling. Jason loved the military. Ever since he was a young boy he dreamed about becoming a Marine. He followed in his Grandfather and Uncle John's footsteps by joining the military. Jason is survived by his loving wife Sarah Calo of Clio, MI; children Allison Calo age 3 and Achilles Calo age 2 of Clio, MI; mother Jeri Manville of Mancelona, MI; stepfather Thomas Manville of Traverse City, MI; brother Adam and Justin Calo, both of Mancelona, MI; maternal grandparents John and Julie Lemcool of Mancelona, MI and a niece Chloe Calo of Mancelona, MI. He will be greatly missed. The service will be Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 1:00PM at Mancelona High School. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00AM until 7:00PM at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to the family of Sgt. Jason D.
