Sawyer Fleet

Sawyer Garrison Fleet, 22, of Traverse City passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 9, 2016.

Sawyer was born on November 2, 1993 in Petoskey to parents Erik Michael Fleet and Elizabeth Jane (Wininger) Fleet. He enjoyed a full and happy childhood and graduated from Traverse City Central in 2012. He was a student at NMC and was currently working with a great group of guys at Serra Motors. Sawyer enjoyed movies, music, drawing, motorcycles, Mythbusters, lifting weights, and "messiness and freedom". He was sensitive, caring, curious, intelligent, a great listener who wanted to help everyone, and had a special gift of making people feel accepted and important.

Sawyer is forever loved and deeply missed by his parents, sister Olivia Grace; grandparents William and Cathy Wininger of Central Lake, and John and Marjorie Fleet of Bellaire; great-grandmother Barbara Lawrence of Kalkaska; girlfriend and best friend Kimberly DeBusschere, formerly of Traverse City; and an extended family of many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Sawyer is preceded in death by his uncle, Ryan Wininger; his great-grandparents Lester Lawrence, Beverly Wininger, Harold Wininger, Floyd and Alice Fleet, and William and Josephine Stiem.

A memorial will be held on Sunday, July 17 from 1-3 pm at the Kearny Township Hall, 4820 Aero Park Drive, Bellaire. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Arrangements are being handled by Mortensen Funeral Homes, www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com.
